Gustav Klimt was an Austrian symbolist painter, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known for his ornate, golden-toned portraits, landscapes, and allegorical paintings, as well as his contributions to the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. He founded the Vienna Secession movement in 1897, which aimed to break away from traditional academic art. Some of his famous works include "The Kiss" and "Judith and the Head of Holofernes". Klimt died in 1918 at the age of 55.
